Representative Text

1 Look up! The sun is shining
Behind the clouds so drear,
Our Father reigns in heaven,
Then what have we to fear!

Refrain:
Look up, look up,
Look up with glad rejoicing!
Look up, lookup,
For safely he will keep,
Look up, look up,
Children of his kingdom,
Our Father watches o’er,
When we wake or sleep.

2 Look up! O soul, be joyful!
Unto his promise flee,
And trust God’s love unfailing,
New ev’ry morn for thee. [Refrain]

3 Look up! And keep reflecting
The light that shines above,
Then ask for grace and courage,
To magnify his love. [Refrain]

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
