Representative Text

1. O beautiful sunshine gleaming,
Over the plains and the hills,
With thoughts of the heavenly Canaan,
Earth-weary spirits fill.

Refrain
Beautiful star of the Orient,
Lighting dark places of earth;
Telling the beautiful story,
Of the Redeemer’s birth.

2. O beautiful rivulet flowing,
Joyously on to the sea,
Sing songs of the soul-cleansing fountain,
Opened on Calvary. [Refrain]

3. O beautiful twilight shadows,
Wrapping the dewy lea,
Ye tell us of rest that is waiting,
Over the crystal sea. [Refrain]

4. O beautiful glorious sunset,
Painting on cloud and sky,
Bright scenes of the beautiful Heaven,
Home of the soul, on high. [Refrain]
