Died: April 11, 1935, Berkeley, California.
Newhall attended Amherst College and Union Theological Seminary, and was ordained a Congregational minister. He pastored over 25 years, then became associated with the United States Forestry Service and developed a reputation as an outstanding naturalist. He retired in 1905 to Berkeley, California.
