Julia Harriet Johnston, who was born on Jan. 21, 1849, at Salineville, OH, in Columbiana County, but she moved with her family to Peoria, IL, at six years of age and spent the rest of her life there. Her father, Robert Johnston, was minister with the FIrst Presbyterian Church of Peoria from 1856 until his death in 1864. Julia became a Sunday school teacher, and for 41 years was head of the infant class in the children’s department. In addition, for twenty years, Julia was president of the Presbyterian Missionary Society of Peoria which had been founded by her mother. Also a prolific author, she produced primary Sunday school lesson material for the David C. Cook Publishing Co. of Chicago, IL, and had several of her own works pub… Go to person page >
