The crowd gathered and was bewildered,
because each one heard the disciples speaking
in the native language of each.
Amazed and astonished, they asked:

Are not all these who are speaking Galileans?
How is it that we hear, each of us,
in our own native language?
In our own languages we hear them speaking
about God’s deeds of power.

Then Peter, standing with the eleven, addressed them:
“This is what was spoken throught the prophet Joel:

Speaker 1 (in English)
In the last days it will be, God declares,
that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh.
Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be
saved.”

Speaker 2 (in Spanish)
Sucederá que en los últimos dias—dice Dios—
derramaré mi Espíritu sobre todo el género humano.
Y todo el que invoque el nombre del Señor será salvo.”
