Jesus, Have Mercy on Me

Representative Text

1 Out on the desert in darkness and sin,
Long have I wandered, my Savior, from Thee;
Hopeless and wretched, so long have I been,
Jesus, have mercy on me.

Refrain:
Hopeless and wretched am I,
Jesus, have mercy on me;
Save, or I perish and die,
Jesus, have mercy on me.

2 Great are my sins as a mountain of woe,
Looming before in my pathway I see;
Yet Thou canst save me forever, I know,
Jesus, have mercy on me. [Refrain]

3 Lord, I forsake my rebellion and sin,
Fain would I fly from my troubles to Thee;
Oh, how I long for Thy glory within!
Jesus, have mercy on me. [Refrain]

4 Lord, I am yearning for mercy today,
Now as I come in repentance to Thee,
Take all the guilt of my sins far away;
Jesus, have mercy on me. [Refrain]
