Representative Text

1 Sailing, sailing, Christ our ship doth guide;
Sailing, sailing, o’er the foaming tide;
Sails are swelling ‘neath the fav’ring gale,
Swiftly, swiftly, o’er the sea we sail.

Refrain:
Sailing, sailing over the gospel sea,
Sailing, sailing, over the waves so free;
Sailing, sailing, happy sailors are we,
Sailing, sailing, over the gospel sea.

2 Sailing, sailing, storms are raging high;
Clouds and darkness sweep across the sky;
All unharm’d the clouds we’ll soon outride,
Safely, into peaceful waters glide. [Refrain]

3 Sailing, sailing, ‘till the sea is past;
Sailing, sailing, reaching port at last;
Sailing ‘till our Captain’s word is giv’n,
‘Till we anchor safe at home in heav’n. [Refrain]
