Representative Text

1 So straight is the gate and so narrow
The way to eternal day,
And few are the pilgrims who find it,
Too great is the price they must pay.

Refrain:
But it’s worth all it costs to be holy,
It is worth all it costs to be true;
God’s blessing and honor shall crown thee
With power thy life to endue.

2 Salvation is free, yet to gain it
The soul must leave all things behind;
Deny self and follow the Savior,
The way straight and narrow to find. [Refrain]

3 How rugged the path, yet God’s glory
Attendeth each soul on that way;
And brighter and brighter it shineth,
Revealing a glad, perfect day. [Refrain]
