Representative Text

1 Sound, sound the battle-cry;
Legions of sin are nigh,
Up and away, rise up, rise up and away!
Forward, ye soldiers, all,
Wait not nor backward fall,
Haste, win the day, oh, haste and win the day.

Refrain:
Sheathe not the sword in the battle of the Lord,
Hold your gleaming banners high;
Hosts for the King will vict’ry bring
O’er the foes that hover nigh;
Hosts for the King will a glorious vict’ry bring,
O’er the foes that hover nigh.

2 Gird all your armor on,
Haste, ere the set of sun,
Battles to win, by grace great battles to win;
Forward, ye soldiers, go,
Stronger than steel clad foe
Are hosts of sin, are mighty hosts of sin. [Refrain]

3 Oh, let your motto be:
“Onward to victory,”
Bravely endure, like soldiers, bravely endure;
Onward, ye soldiers, all;
Forward, nor backward fall,
Vict’ry is sure, through Christ is vict’ry sure. [Refrain]
