The Holy One of Israel

Representative Text

The Holy One of Israel
has promised wars will end;
the lion with the calf shall dwell,
and wolf a lamb befriend.
Let pruning hooks and plowshares made
from battle swords and spears,
that people may be unafraid,
and lay aside their fears.
Refrain
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Pray for God's peace on the earth.

The desert will be glad and bloom,
the living water flow,
the hope of peace will banish gloom,
and wash away all woe.
The blind shall see, the deaf will hear,
the speechless find a voice,
the lame shall leap now like a deer,
and everyone rejoice.
Refrain

The Holy One of Israel
will send a Prince of Peace,
a wise and mighty one, to dwell
with us, our joys increase.
With justice he will make things right
for all who suffer wrong,
and peace shall dawn at end of night,
and tears be turned to song.
Refrain
