Representative Text

1 “The Master is come,” O penitent one,
He brings thee forgiveness and love;
The cup that He drain’d thy pardon has won—
Thy title to mansions above.

Refrain:
“The Master is come and calleth for thee,”
O soul heavy laden, oppressed,
He calleth for thee, He calleth for thee,
Draw near unto Him and find rest.

2 “The Master is come,” O laborer know
The seed thou art sowing in tears,
Thro’ sunshine and storm shall blossom and grow
To ripen in heaven’s bright years. [Refrain]

3 “The Master is come,” O pilgrim, whose way
Has lain in the shadow so long,
Thy path will lead home to portals of day—
To joy and redemption’s glad song. [Refrain]

4 “The Master is come,” O mourner rejoice,
He robs even death of its sting;
Thy lov’d shall awake at sound of His voice
To dwell evermore with the King. [Refrain]
