Representative Text

1 We are a band of soldiers,
Valiant, and brave, and true;
Under the King enlisted,
Sworn to be loyal, too;
Jesus, the Master, is leading,
Cheering, encouraging, pleading;
Backward the foe is receding,
And victory lies in view.

Refrain:
Marching, marching,
Marching along the King’s highway,
Marching, marching,
On to the perfect day.

2 Steadily on we’re marching,
Daily we stronger grow;
Firmer in faith and patience,
Conquering ev’ry foe.
Grandly the morning is breaking,
Righteous endeavor awaking,
Evil foundations are shaking,
As onward with joy we go. [Refrain]

3 Millions in lands of darkness
Look for the coming day;
Long for the coming Saviour,
Why should we then delay?
Until the heavy clouds, rifted,
Backward forever have drifted,
Till the dark veil is uplifted,
We’ll labor and watch and pray. [Refrain]
