Representative Text

1 Why go we mourning all the day,
Or doubt our Father’s care,
When we may trust him all the way
Our pilgrim feet must fare?

Refrain:
“Fear not, fear not,” for the Lord is near,
“Fear not, fear not,” is his word of cheer;
Though foes may press they can never harm,
The Lord himself defends us with his mighty arm.

2 Our Lord to us is ever near,
Though dark may be the skies,
And ills which we so often fear
Are blessings in disguise. [Refrain]

3 Let hope be bright and faith be strong
With such a Friend to aid,
And if the way be dark and long,
Be not, be not afraid. [Refrain]
