We never did come to an agreement on what to do with modal hymns. I understand the practitioner’s point of view in needing something in D minor that doesn’t necessarily have a Bb in the key signature. Or can we compromise with something like “D (modal)”? That way people understand the key signature might not exactly match, but they also know the tonal center of the hymn. Thoughts?
