About 150 partly cataloged hymnals published in New England 1780–1890. Some shape-note. Hymnals by William Bull (1762–1842). The author who may be most represented in the collection is Samuel Willard (1776-1859). There are also numerous American editions of works credited to Isaac Watts, along with a few London and Edinburgh editions. The earliest hymnal (1738) is an Edinburgh imprint. While most of our holdings were printed in New England, we also own examples printed in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, etc. Date range: 18th-19th c.
