ZELOTES (MOZART) and MOZART

You are here

There are two tunes in the database called MOZART: mozart_mozart_34113 and mozart_mozart_11175. A comparison of page scans shows these are quite dissimilar tunes, even though some of the same texts are set to both. There is also a tune called ZELOTES by Mozart. There is no scan, but I have one of the instances (CW1941 #376) in front of me, and can say that to all intents and purposes it is a close variant of MOZART 11175; its incipit is 111765 (with a slur, dotted quarter to eighth notes, from 7 to 6; i.e., measures 2 and 9 have the same contour in the soprano line).

Anyhow, on the theory that it is best not to have multiple tunes by the same name and the same composer, I am going to merge MOZART 11175 into ZELOTES and rename the whole zelotes_mozart. So the tune name MOZART will be limited to MOZART 34113.

And in the CCEL PDF, "Arranaged" should be corrected to read "Arranged"... ;-)
