You are here

First of all, thank you for your work. I use this site extensively planning worship every week.

In selecting worship songs, I have two primary goals: the song must be biblical and singable.

This is one reason our church sings so much of Isaac Watts, because his songs are so close to the biblical text and they're set to common meters that match up with hundreds of familiar tunes.

Sometimes however Isaac's age catches up to him and an otherwise brilliant song is unsingable due to the use of archaic English most people won't get. Oftentimes I've tinkered with the words to bring it up to date. I'd love to share the modifications for others to take advantage of.

Other times I've set the words of the NIV to a common meter with a few minor syllable adjustments. An example of this would be Revelation 15:3-4. Again, this could be made available to other pastors seeking to sing this portion of scripture.

Another benefit would be I'd be able to find my own work again in a few years when I've forgotton where I saved it. Being able to catalog it according to scripture citation, meter and suggested tune would be very helpful.

Again, thanks for this awesome resource!
