I was writing an email to my brother-in-law who is (at 83 years) reconnecting with his piano. We were talking about chord inversions and I gave him an example which brought a chorale tune into my aged head and I used several tools on the ‘net’ to try identifying it. To NO AVAIL. Almost worse than no avail. I decided that, even though the tune was indeed a “Hymn,” if wasn't what modern Christian churches think of as a hymn. Aha! Chorale! That's what I was looking for! That search led me here and my absolute first attempt here displayed “Wachet Auf” which was, indeed, the tune I had in mind. The site looks interesting and I have joined – but my first job is to thank you all for being here and for allowing me to get the tune out of my head and onto “paper” as it were.
Many thanks!
