Rev. Martin Hauser (Houser) was born in Bethania (Forsyth County), North Carolina on September 23, 1799 and died September (or October) 25, 1875 in Hope, Indiana, but was buried at West Salem, Illinois. He founded Moravian churches in Hope, Indiana (1830) and in West Salem, Illinois.
