Author of "Spiritual Seeking" in The Gospel Psalmist In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.

1828 - 1875 Person Name: A. B. Everett Composer of "RICHMOND" in Hymn and Tune Book of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South (Round Note Ed.) Asa Brooks Everett MusDoc USA 1828-1875. Born in VA, he planned to be a doctor, but decided to study music instead. He studied in Boston for four years and also in Leipzig, Germany for four years.. He composed many gospel tunes and edited “The Sceptre” a New York publication. His brothers, Benjamin and Leonard, were also composers. He and Leonard organized a musical instruction system in Richmond, VA, in the 1850s. By 1861, 50 teachers and singing schools were representing them and using their publications. He died in Nashville, TN.

Died: August 30, 1909, Hayward’s Heath, Sussex, England.
Cremated: Golders Green, London, England.
Jordan began his musical career as a chorister, first at Bristol Cathedral and later at St. Paul’s Cathedral. He was educated at Oxford (BMus 1869), and received the Lambeth degree of Doctor of Music in 1886.
A champion of plainsong, he was an honorary organist of the London Gregorian Association, where he took a prominent part in the annual festivals at St. Paul’s Cathedral. He was a professor of organ and harmony at the Guildhall School of Music, and an honorary fellow, examiner and treasurer of the Royal College of Organists.
Jordan held organist positions at St. Paul’s, Bunhill Row (1857); St. Luke’s Holloway (1860); and from 1866 until his death at St. Stephen’s Church, Lewisham (where he was also choir master). His works include:

1853 - 1945 Author of "We meet in the name of the Lord" in Salvation Melodies. New ed. Lane, Rev. John. (New York City, 1853--1945, Nashville, Tennessee). Singing evangelist and hymn-writer. Son of Patrick and Alice O'Connor Lane (formerly "Lean"), Irish immigrants. He was an advertising solicitor for New York newspapers, when he was converted to Christianity and under the tutelage of Dr. T. De Witt Talmadge, he became a mission worker, and later conducted revival meetings in the East before going West in 1893 to Kansas City, Missouri.
