Long as I live I'll bless thy Name

Appears in 169 hymnals Topics: Compassion of God Lyrics: 1 Long as I live I'll bless thy Name, My King, my GOD of Love; My Work and Joy shall be the same In the bright World above. 2 Great is the Lord, his Pow'r unknown, And let his Praise be great; I'll sing the Honours of thy Throne, Thy Works of Grace repeat. 3 Thy Grace shall dwell upon my Tongue; And while my Lips rejoice, The Men that hear my sacred Song Shall join their chearful Voice. 4 Fathers to Sons shall teach thy Name, And Children learn thy Ways; Ages to come thy Truth proclaim, And Nations sound thy Praise. 5 Thy glorious Deeds of ancient Date Shall through the World be known; Thine Arm of Pow'r, thy heav'nly State, With public Splendor shown. 6 The World is manag'd by thy Hands, Thy Saints are rul'd by Love; And thine eternal Kingdom stands, Though Rocks and Hills remove. Scripture: Psalm 145:1-7

Psalm 147 Part 1

Author: Isaac Watts Meter: 8.8.8.8 Appears in 224 hymnals Topics: Compassion of God First Line: Praise ye the Lord; 'tis good to raise Lyrics: Praise ye the Lord; 'tis good to raise Our hearts and voices in his praise; His nature and his works invite To make this duty our delight. The Lord builds up Jerusalem, And gathers nations to his name; His mercy melts the stubborn soul, And makes the broken spirit whole. He formed the stars, those heav'nly flames; He counts their numbers, calls their names; His wisdom's vast, and knows no bound, A deep where all our thoughts are drowned. Great is our Lord, and great his might; And all his glories infinite: He crowns the meek, rewards the just, And treads the wicked to the dust. Sing to the Lord, exalt him high, Who spreads his clouds all round the sky; There he prepares the fruitful rain, Nor lets the drops descend in vain. He makes the grass the hills adorn, And clothes the smiling fields with corn; The beasts with food his hands supply, And the young ravens when they cry. What is the creature's skill or force, The sprightly man, the warlike horse, The nimble wit, the active limb? All are too mean delights for him. But saints are lovely in his sight, He views his children with delight; He sees their hope, he knows their fear, And looks, and loves his image there. Scripture: Psalm 147

Children of God, reach out to one another!

Author: John Greenleaf Whittier (1807-1892) Meter: 11.10.11.10 Appears in 3 hymnals Topics: Our Response to Christ In Discipleship; Our Response to God in the worship of God's house; Church Worship; Compassion; Peace Lyrics: 1 Children of God, reach out to one another! Where pity dwells, the peace of God is there; to worship rightly is to love each other, each smile a hymn, each kindly deed a prayer. 2 For he whom Jesus loved has truly spoken: the holier worship which God deigns to bless restores the lost, and binds the spirit broken, and feeds the widow and the fatherless. 3 Follow with reverent steps the great example of him whose holy work was doing good; so shall the wide earth seem our Father's temple, each loving life a psalm of gratitude. 4 Then shall all shackles fall; the stormy clangour of wild war music o'er the earth shall cease; love shall tread out the baleful fire of anger, and in its ashes plant the tree of peace. Scripture: 1 John 3:18 Used With Tune: INTERCESSOR
