1800 - 1871 Person Name: ناصيف اليازجي Author of "يا إلهي اسمع صلاتي واستجب" in كتاب الترانيم الروحية للكنائس الإنجيلية Nasif al-Yaziji (March 25, 1800 – February 8, 1871) was a Lebanese author at the times of the Ottoman Empire and father of Ibrahim al-Yaziji. He was one of the leading figures in the Nahda movement. We was a poet, wrote and translated many hymns, and helped in translating the complete Bible into Arabic.
ناصيف بن عبد الله بن جنبلاط بن سعد اليازجي (25 مارس 1800 - 8 فبراير 1871)، أديب وشاعر لبناني ولد في قرية كفر شيما، من قرى الساحل اللبناني في 25 آذار سنة 1800 م في أسرة اليازجي التي نبغ كثير من أفرادها في الفكر والأدب، وأصله من حمص.
لعب دورا كبيرا في إعادة استخدام اللغة الفصحى بين العرب في القرن التاسع عشر، عمل لدى الأسرة الشهابية كاتبا وشارك في أول ترجمة الإنجيل والعهد القديم إلى العربية في العصر الحديث.

1883 - 1969 Person Name: S. D. Athans Mod. por of "Tentado, No Cedas" in Melodias Evangelicas para el Uso de las Iglesias Evangelicas de Habla Española en Todo el Mundo Speros Demetrios Athans was born 1883 in Turkey. Raised in the Greek Orthodox Church, Athans left home at age 15, after his father’s death. He spent two years on the island of Corfu, Greece, and two more in Egypt, then went to Great Britain, where he worked as a sailor. In 1903 he went to America, and during immigration processing, someone gave him a New Testament in Greek. A year later, he joined a Nazarene church in Chicago, Illinois. He then enrolled in a Bible school and university. While in school in California, he began to study Spanish and to work with the Latino community. In 1910 he decided to work in evangelism. In 1931, he joined the Methodist missionary work in Latin America, retiring in 1949.

1843 - 1908 Person Name: A. Berens Translator of "Folg' nicht der Versuchung" in Liederkranz für Sonntags-Schulen und Jugend-Vereine Berens, August. (Hamburg, Germany, October 30, 1843--January 12, 1908, Niles Center, Illinois). He attended the Missionhaus at Barmen, Germany, ca. 1859-1862, and then did post-graduate study at Tübingen, ca. 1862-1863. Coming to the United States, he was a missionary pastor for the Evangelical Synod of North America on the western frontier, especially in Wisconsin and Minnesota. He was pastor in Washington, Missouri, 1878-1887, and of St. Peter's Church, Elmhurst, Illinois, 1887-1906. He was the author of Frülingsboten: Gedichte (St. Charles, Illinois, 1889) and Frisch und fromm: Ein Kinderbüchlein mit Gedichten, Liedern, und Sprüchen (St. Louis, n.d.). He became a U.S. citizen in June, 1892.
Berens married a school teacher, Clara Rieger, in 1878, and had three children. She was the author of Frau Nicholas Magd: eine Erzählung (St. Louis, 1894), and Aus vergangen Tagen (St. Louis, 1906).
