Psalm 102 Part 2

Author: Isaac Watts Hymnal: Psalms and Hymns of Isaac Watts, The #Ps.222 (1806) Meter: 8.6.8.6 First Line: Let Zion and her sons rejoice Lyrics: Let Zion and her sons rejoice, Behold the promised hour; Her God hath heard her mourning voice, And comes t' exalt his power. Her dust and ruins that remain Are precious in our eyes; Those ruins shall be built again, And all that dust shall rise. The Lord will raise Jerusalem And stand in glory there; Nations shall bow before his name, And kings attend with fear. He sits a sovereign on his throne, With pity in his eyes; He hears the dying pris'ners' groan, And sees their sighs arise. He frees the souls condemned to death, And when his saints complain, It shan't be said, "That praying breath Was ever spent in vain." This shall be known when we are dead, And left on long record; That ages yet unborn may read, And trust, and praise the Lord. Topics: Hearing of prayer and salvation; Praise for hearing prayer; Afflictions very great; Church restored by prayer; God eternal, and man mortal; Mortality and God's eternity; Afflicted their prayer; Christ his Godhead; Christ the eternal Creator; Complaint general; Man mortal, and Christ eternal; Prayer heard and Zion restored; Saints die, but Christ lives Scripture: Psalm 102:13-21 Languages: English

Let Sion And Her Sons Rejoice

Author: Isaac Watts Hymnal: The Cyber Hymnal #720 Lyrics: 1. Let Sion and her sons rejoice, Behold the promised hour; Her God hath heard her mourning voice, And comes t’exalt His power. 2. Her dust and ruins that remain Are precious in our eyes; Those ruins shall be built again, And all that dust shall rise. 3. The Lord will raise Jerusalem And stand in glory there; Nations shall bow before His name, And kings attend with fear. 4. He sits a sovereign on His throne, With pity in His eyes; He hears the dying prisoners groan, And sees their sighs arise. 5. He frees the souls condemned to death, And when His saints complain, It sha’n’t be said, That praying breath Was ever spent in vain. 6. This shall be known when we are dead, And left on long record; That ages yet unborn may read, And trust, and praise the Lord. Tune Title: BETHEL
