Bronx, New York City, 1941) Educated at Oakland City College and California State University, in Hayward, CA, Fettke has taught in several public and Christian high schools and served as minister of music in various churches, all in California. He has published over eight hundred compositions and arrangements (some under the pseudonyms Robert F. Douglas and David J. Allen) and produced a number of recordings. Graham Kendrick

England, August 2, 1950), the son of a Baptist minister in Northamptonshire, is one of the most prolific Christian singer-songwriters in the United Kingdom. He’s written music for over thirty years, and to date has released thirty-eight albums. He is best known for his songs “Shine, Jesus, Shine,” “Knowing You,” and “The Servant King.” Kendrick has received honorary doctorates in divinity from Brunel University and Wycliffe College. In 1987 he helped co-found the March for Jesus, which today is a global phenomenon in which Christians take their faith to the streets in a celebration of Christ. In 1995 Kendrick received a Dove Award for his international work, and he remains an active advocate for Compassion International, which is a Christian child sponsorship organization dedicated to the long-term development of children living in poverty around the world, and also is a contributor to CompassionArt, an organization with the aim of generating income from works of art to assist in the relief of suffering around the planet. Ludvig Mathias Lindeman

1812 - 1887 Person Name: Ludvig M. Lindeman, 1812-1887 Topics: God, Our Father Composer of "HER VIL TIES" in Ambassador Hymnal Ludvig M. Lindeman (b. 1812; d. 1887) was a Norwegian composer and organist. Born in Trondheim, he studied theology in Oslo where he remained the rest of his life. In 1839 he succeeded his brother as the organist and cantor of Oslo Cathedral, a position he held for 48 years up until his death. Lindeman was appointed Knight of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav, and was invited to both help christen the new organ in Royal Albert Hall in London, as well as compose for the coronation of King Oscar II and Queen Sophie of Sweden. In 1883, he and his son started the Organist School in Oslo. Lindeman is perhaps best known for his arrangements of Norwegiam folk tales; over the course of his life he collected over 3000 folk melodies and tunes. Laura de Jong

His quasi American National Hymn was written for the 250th Anniversary of the Landing of the Pilgrim Fathers at Plymouth, Massachusetts, Dec. 21, 1870. Alexander V. Griswold

1766 - 1843 Person Name: Alexander Griswold Topics: God Father Author of "Holy Father, great Creator, Source of mercy, love, and peace" in Magnify the Lord Griswold, Alexander Viets, D.D., born at Simsbury, Connecticut, in 1766. After being for some time rector at Bristol, Rhode Island, he was consecrated bishop of the "Eastern Diocese," in 1811. He was subsequently Bishop of Massachusetts. He died in 1843, and his memoirs were published by Dr. J. S. Stone. His well-known hymn:— Holy Father, great Creator. Holy Trinity. Was written probably in 1835. It appeared in that year in his Family Prayers, in 4 st. of 6 1. and entitled "Hymn to the God of Christians." With some alterations by Bishop Coxe, it was given in Hymns for Church and Home, &c, Phila., 1860, No. 153. It was repeated in the Hymnal .... of the Protestant Episcopal Church , 1871, No. 145.[Rev. Oscar Ahnfelt

1813 - 1882 Topics: God As Father Composer of "BLOTT EN DAG" in Lift Up Your Hearts Oscar Ahnfelt (1813 -1882) was a Swedish singer and composer. He wrote the music for many of Lina Sandell’s hymns. A pietist, he raised some concern in the State-church, but his music was apparently so popular, King Karl XV gave him permission to play and sing in both of his kingdoms. Ahnfelt’s music has spread throughout the world; two of his best-known songs are “Children of the Heavenly Father” and “Day by Day.” Laura de Jong

Cyril Taylor

Taylor (b. Wigan, Lancashire, England, 1907; d. Petersfield, England, 1991) was a chorister at Magdalen College School, Oxford, and studied at Christ Church, Oxford, and Westcott House, Cambridge. Ordained a priest in the Church of England in 1932, he served the church as both pastor and musician. His positions included being a producer in the religious broadcasting department of the BBC (1939-1953), chaplain of the Royal School of Church Music (1953-1958), vicar of Cerne Abbas in Dorsetshire (1958-1969), and precentor of Salisbury Cathedral (1969-1975). He contributed twenty hymn tunes to the BBC Hymn Book (1951), which he edited, and other tunes to the Methodist Hymns and Psalms (1983). He also edited 100 Hymns for Today (1969) and More Hymns for Today (1980). Writer of the booklet Hymns for Today Discussed (1984), Taylor was chairman of the Hymn Society of Great Britain and Ireland from 1975 to 1980. Bert Polman

Buried: Union Cemetery, Finesville, New Jersey. Tomer studied singing and sang in the choir in Finesville, New Jersey, and began teaching school at age 17. He served in the Union army during the American civil war, then worked as a clerk in Washington, DC, served as music director for Grace Methodist Episcopal Church, and taught school in New Carpentersville and Greenwich, New Jersey.
