I Sing the Mighty Power of God

Author: Isaac Watts Hymnal: The Celebration Hymnal #128 (1997) Meter: 8.6.8.6 D Lyrics: 1 I sing the mighty pow'r of God That made the mountains rise, That spread the flowing seas abroad, And built the lofty skies. I sing the wisdom that ordained The sun to rule the day; The moon shines full at His command And all the stars obey. 2 I sing the goodness of the Lord That filled the earth with food; He formed the creatures with His word And then pronounced them good. Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed Where'er I turn my eye: If I survey the ground I tread Or gaze upon the sky! 3 There's not a plant or flow'r below But makes Thy glories known; And clouds arise and tempests blow By order from Thy throne; While all that borrows life from Thee Is ever in Thy care, And everywhere that man can be, Thou, God, art present there. Hosanna, loud hosanna

Author: Jeanette Threlfall, 1821-1880 Hymnal: CPWI Hymnal #129 (2010) Meter: 7.6.7.6 D Lyrics: 1 Hosanna, loud hosanna the little children sang; through pillared court and temple, the lovely anthem rang; to Jesus, who had blessed them, close folded to his breast, the children sang their praises, the simplest and the best. 2 From Olivet they followed midst an exultant crowd, waving the victor palm branch, and shouting clear and loud. Bright angels joined the chorus, beyond the cloudless sky: hosanna in the highest, glory to God on high! 3 Fair leaves of silvery olive they strewed upon the ground, whilst Salem's circling mountains echoed the joyful sound. The Lord of men and angels rode on in lowly state, nor scorned that little children should on his bidding wait. 4 Hosanna in the highest! That ancient song we sing; for Christ is our Redeemer, the Lord of heaven our King: O may we ever praise him with heart and life and voice, and in his blissful presence eternally rejoice.
