I Cannot Tell

Author: William Y. Fullerton, 1857-1932 Meter: 11.10.11.10 D Appears in 37 hymnals Topics: Jesus Example First Line: I cannot tell why He, whom angels worship Lyrics: 1 I cannot tell why He, whom angels worship Should set His love upon the sons of men, Or why, as Shepherd, He should seek the wanderers To bring them back, they know not how or when. But this I know, that He was born of Mary, When Bethlehem’s manger was His only home, And that He lived at Nazareth and labored, And so the Savior, Savior of the world, is come. 2 I cannot tell how silently He suffered, As with His peace He graced this place of tears, Or how His heart upon the cross was broken, The crown of pain to three and thirty years. But this I know, He heals the broken hearted, And stays our sin and calms our lurking fear, And lifts the burden from the heavy laden, For yet the Savior, Savior of the world, is here. 3 I cannot tell how He will win the nations, How He will claim His earthly heritage, Or satisfy the needs and aspirations Of east and west, of sinner and of sage. But this I know, all flesh shall see His glory, And He shall reap the harvest He has sown; And some glad day His sun shall shine in splendor When He the Savior, Savior of the world, is known. 4 I cannot tell how all the lands shall worship When at His bidding every storm is stilled, Or who can say how great the jubilation When all the hearts of men with love are filled. But this I know, the skies will thrill with rapture, And countless voices then will join to sing; And earth to heaven, and heaven to earth will answer: "At last the Savior, Savior of the world, is King!" Scripture: Psalm 64:10 Used With Tune: LONDONDERRY AIR

Jesus Is All the World to Me

Author: Will L. Thompson Appears in 335 hymnals Topics: Jesus Christ Example Lyrics: 1 Jesus is all the world to me, My life, my joy, my all; He is my strength from day to day, Without Him I would fall. When I am sad to Him I go, No other one can cheer me so; When I am sad He makes me glad, He’s my Friend. 2 Jesus is all the world to me, My Friend in trials sore; I go to Him for blessings, and He gives them o’er and o’er. He sends the sunshine and the rain, He sends the harvest’s golden grain; Sunshine and rain, harvest of grain, He’s my Friend. 3 Jesus is all the world to me, And true to Him I’ll be; O, how could I this Friend deny, When He’s so true to me? Following Him I know I’m right, He watches o’er me day and night; Following Him by day and night, He’s my Friend. 4 Jesus is all the world to me, I want no better friend; I trust Him now, I’ll trust Him when Life’s fleeting days shall end. Beautiful life with such a Friend; Beautiful life that has no end; Eternal life, eternal joy, He’s my Friend. Used With Tune: [Jesus is all the world to me]
