O God, Regard My Humble Plea

Meter: 8.8.6.8.8.6 Appears in 13 hymnals Lyrics: 1 O God, regard my humble plea; I cannot be so far from Thee but Thou wilt hear my cry; when I by trouble am distressed, then lead me on the Rock to rest that higher is than I. 2 In Thee my soul hath shelter found, and Thou hast been from foes around the tow'r to which I flee. Within Thy house will I abide; my refuge sure, whate'er betide, Thy shelt'ring wings shall be. 3 For Thou, O God, my vows hast heard, on me the heritage conferred of those that fear Thy Name; a blest anointing Thou dost give, and Thou wilt make me ever live Thy praises to proclaim. 4 Before Thy face shall I abide; O God, Thy truth and grace provide to guard me in the way; so I will make Thy praises known, and, humbly blending at Thy throne, my vows will daily pay. Upon the Cross Extended

Author: Paul Gerhardt, 1607-1676; John Kelly, 1833-1890 Meter: 7.7.6.7.7.8 Appears in 11 hymnals Lyrics: 1 Upon the cross extended, see, world, your Lord suspended; your Savior yields his breath. The Prince of life from heaven himself has freely given to shame and blows and bitter death. 2 Who is it, Lord, that bruised you? Who has so sore abused you and caused you all your woe? We all must make confession of sin and dire transgression while you no ways of evil know. 3 I caused your grief and sighing by evils multiplying as countless as the sands. I caused the woes unnumbered with which your soul is cumbered, your sorrows raised by wicked hands. 4 Your soul in griefs unbounded, your head with thorns surrounded, you died to ransom me. The cross for me enduring, the crown for me securing, you healed my wounds and set me free. 5 Your cross I place before me, its saving pow'r restore me, sustain me in the test. It will, when life is ending, be guiding and attending my way to your eternal rest. Topics: Jesus' Passion Scripture: Isaiah 53:4-9 Used With Tune: O WELT, ICH MUSS DICH LASSEN

Praise God, this hour of sorrow

Author: H. A. Brorson; J. Heerman Meter: 7.7.6.7.7.8 Appears in 8 hymnals Lyrics: 1 Praise God, this hour of sorrow Shall bring a brighter morrow: I go to Paradise. My mother dear and father, When round my grave you gather, Lay me to rest with songs of praise. 2 What better can befall me Than that the Lord doth call me From hence, where sin holds sway? Who is on earth a stranger Must ever be in danger, Till God hath closed life's fleeting day. 3 God takes His own from anguish And pain, in which they languish Within this vale of tears, And gives them to inherit The crown that Christ did merit: The joy of heaven's eternal years. 4 I was on earth your treasure; And now I know but pleasure Ye weep in bitter woe; Believe, whate'er betideth, God's love in all abideth, And soon your tears shall cease to flow. 5 Our days the Lord appointeth, He woundeth and anointeth, He knoweth all things well. No evil He effected, No good He e'er neglected, And all His works His glory tell. 6 When ye shall see me nearing The throne of God, appearing Adorned and crowned a bride, My palms of victory swinging, 'Midst Hallelujahs ringing, In beauteous grace the Lamb beside: 7 Ye both shall rue the sadness That made you weep, and gladness E'er in your hearts shall reign. Who follows where God guideth, And takes what He provideth Shall know surcease from all his pain. 8 Farewell, I now must leave you; The grief this day doth give you Soon others, too, shall bear. Be ye to God commended; In heaven all woe is ended, And we shall meet in glory there.

Tag dem udi din Naade, Vær god for al min Vaade, Du Øie over Israel! 8 Bred dine Vinger over Din Kylling, mens han sover, O Herre Jesu sød! Vil Satan mod mig træde, Lad dine Engle kvæde: Sit Barn har Gud gjemt i sit Skjød! 9 I Venner allevegne, Vor Herre eder hegne Fra Fare een og hver! Gud eders Slummer lette, Og sterke Vagter sette Om Sengen med sin Englehær! Topics: Særlige Salmer Aften; Special Hymns Evening Used With Tune: [Nu hviler Mark og Enge]
