I Sing a Song of the Saints of God

Author: Lesbia Scott Hymnal: Our Great Redeemer's Praise #482 (2022) Meter: Irregular Topics: The Church, The Saints Communion of the Saints Lyrics: 1 I sing a song of the saints of God, patient and brave and true, who toiled and fought and lived and died for the Lord they loved and knew. And one was a doctor, and one was a queen, and one was a shepherdess on the green; they were all of them saints of God, and I mean, God helping, to be one too. 2 They loved their Lord so dear, so dear, and His love made them strong, and they followed the right for Jesus’ sake, the whole of their good lives long. And one was a soldier, and one was a priest, and one was slain by a fierce wild beast; and there’s not any reason, no, not the least, why I shouldn’t be one too. 3 They lived not only in ages past; there are hundreds of thousands still. The world is bright with the joyous saints who love to do Jesus’ will. You can meet them in school, on the street, in the store, in church, by the sea, in the house next door, they are saints of God whether rich or poor, and I mean to be one too. Scripture: Hebrews 12:1-13 Languages: English Tune Title: GRAND ISLE

'Tis finished, all is finished, their fight with death and sin; fling open wide the golden gates, and let the victors in! 2 O then what raptured greetings on Canaan's happy shore, what knitting severed friendships up where partings are no more! Then eyes with joy shall sparkle, That brimmed with tears of late; orphans no longer fatherless, nor widows desolate. 3 What rush of alleluias fills all the earth and sky, what ringing of a thousand harps bespeaks the triumph nigh! O day, for which creation And all its tribes were made; O joy, for all its former woes, a thousandfold repaid! Scripture: Isaiah 25:1-9 Languages: English Tune Title: ALFORD

Come, Let Us Join Our Friends Above

Author: Charles Wesley Hymnal: Our Great Redeemer's Praise #479 (2022) Topics: The Church, The Saints Communion of the Saints Lyrics: 1 Come, let us join our friends above who have obtained the prize, and on the eagle wings of love to joys celestial rise. Let saints on earth unite to sing with those to glory gone, for all the servants of our King in earth and heav'n are one. 2 One family we dwell in Him, one church above, beneath, though now divided by the stream, the narrow stream of death; one army of the living God, to His command we bow; part of His host have crossed the flood, and part are crossing now. 3 Ten thousand to their endless home this solemn moment fly, and we are to the margin come, and we expect to die. E'en now by faith we join our hands with those that went before, and greet the blood-besprinkled bands on the eternal shore. 4 Our spirits too shall quickly join, like theirs with glory crowned, and shout to see our Captain's sign, to hear His trumpet sound. O that we now might grasp our Guide! O that the word were giv'n! Come, Lord of Hosts, the waves divide, and land us all in heav'n. Scripture: Exodus 14:16 Languages: English Tune Title: FOREST GREEN

Servant of God, Well Done!

Author: Charles Wesley Hymnal: Our Great Redeemer's Praise #483 (2022) Topics: The Church, The Saints Communion of the Saints Lyrics: 1 Servant of God, well done! Thy glorious warfare's past; the battle's fought, the race is won, and thou art crowned at last; Of all thy heart's desire triumphantly possessed; lodged by the ministerial choir in thy Redeemer's breast. 2 In condescending love, thy ceaseless prayer He heard; and bade thee suddenly remove to thy complete reward. Ready to bring the peace, thy beauteous feet were shod, when mercy signed thy soul's release, ad caught thee up to God. 3 With saints enthroned on high, thou dost thy Lord proclaim, and still to God salvation cry, salvation to the Lamb! O happy, happy soul! In ecstasies of praise, long as eternal ages roll, thou seest thy Savior's face. 4 Redeemed from earth and pain, Ah! when shall we ascend and all in Jesus' presence reign with our translated friend? Come, Lord, and quickly come! And when in Thee complete, receive Thy longing servants home, to triumph at Thy feet! Scripture: Psalm 107:1-9 Languages: English Tune Title: DINBYCH
