1907 - 1980 Author of "God of Love and God of Power" Born: August 30, 1907, Benzonia, Michigan. Died: February 17, 1980, Laguna Hills, California. Buried: Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, California. Kennedy attended the College of the Pacific, the Pacific School of Religion, and Hartford Theological Seminary. He became an Methodist pastor in 1932, serving at the First Congregational Church in Collinsville, Connecticut, until 1936. He then ministered at churches in California and Nebraska. He became a Methodist bishop in 1948, serving in Portland, Oregon. In 1964, he worked on the texts subcommittee for the Methodist Hymnal.
