The Covert of His Wings

Representative Text

1 Under his wings I am hiding,
Till all the storms be o’erpast;
Safe ‘neath his shadow abiding,
While life’s cold winter shall last.

Refrain:
Under his wings, under his wings,
Safely I’m hiding under his wings;
Hiding, Hiding, under his wings.

2 Calm in this covert reposing,
Here I am finding sweet rest;—
While his strong arms are inclosing,
What can my spirit molest? [Refrain]

3 Myriads of foes are surrounding,
Striving my peace to destroy;
Heavenly comforts abounding,
Fill all my being with joy! [Refrain]

4 What though I hear the commotion
Fearfully rage? While I cling
Close to his breast, in devotion,
Joyously still I can sing! [Refrain]

5 Jesus, dear Saviour, my “Tower,”
Safely in thee do I hide,
Shielded from Satan’s dread power,
Blest will I ever abide. [Refrain]
