He was a composer, having contributed tunes to” Wyeth’s Repository” (1810) and known for his tunebook “Columbian Harmony” (1825) in TN. He also composed and arranged several tunes in William Walker’s “Southern Harmony” (1835). John Perry

? - 1816 Person Name: George Atkins Author of "We Have Come to Join in Worship" in The Celebration Hymnal George Askins was born in Ireland. He immigrated to the United States as an adult. He was a Methodist and became an itinerant preacher for the Baltimore Conference in 1801. He was appointed to other circuits as well, mostly in Maryland, Virginia, and Kentucky.
