O Blessed Word

Representative Text

1 Eternal life God’s Word proclaims
To lost and dying men;
By it alone we know the Lord,
Unseen by mortal ken.

Refrain:
O blessed Word, O gracious Word,
We love it more and more;
O may it be our Strength and Sword,
Till earthly strife is o’er.

2 God’s grace is in His Holy Word;
We need it ev’ry day;
In all our conflicts this the sword
Our ev’ry foe to slay. [Refrain]

3 By this same Word we know our work,
And how it should be done;
How we should live, and how thro’ grace
The promised crown is won. [Refrain]
