His Blessings Come Down

Representative Text

1 His blessings come down like the dewdrops,
That fall in the earliest morn,
Refreshing the hearts that are weary,
With promise of life newly born.

Refrain:
His blessings come down, yes His blessings come down,
The sun shineth bright thro’ the rain,
The bow of His promise appears in the sky,
An emblem of joy after pain.

2 His blessings come down like the showers,
On garden and hillside and plain,
O let us each day with rejoicing,
Thank God for the bountiful rain. [Refrain]

3 His blessings come down like the sunshine,
From heaven, where all is so bright,
Reflecting the wonderful glory,
Of Jesus, the Father of light. [Refrain]

Author: Lizzie DeArmond

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
