Leon Patillo

b. 1947 Author of "Go ye therefore and teach all nations" in Gather Comprehensive Leon Norman Patillo (born January 1, 1947, San Francisco, California) is an American singer-songwriter, recording artist, and evangelist whose career spans from mainstream rock to Christian ministry. After performing as keyboardist and vocalist with Carlos Santana on the albums Borboletta (1974) and Festival (1977), Patillo experienced a spiritual conversion that redirected his life toward Christian music. He released his first gospel album Dance Children Dance (1979) with Maranatha! Music and later recorded a series of successful albums for Myrrh / Word Records through the 1980s, earning multiple Billboard Christian chart placements. Patillo is the writer and performer of “Sing Unto the Lord” — a joyful, Scripture-based song that entered congregational use and appears as #46 in The Celebration Hymnal (1997). Beyond music, he has served as pastor of the Rock House Church on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, hosted the TBN television show Leon and Friends, and founded youth and mentorship ministries through his non-profit S.I.N.G. Foundation. Now in his late seventies, Patillo continues to tour, write, and record through his Positive Pop label, sharing his music and faith around the world. J. S.
