Our Lord is risen from the dead

Author: Charles Wesley Appears in 455 hymnals Hymnal Title: Book of Worship with Hymns and Tunes Lyrics: 1 Our Lord is risen from the dead;: Our Jesus is gone up on high; The powers of hell are captive led, Dragged to the portals of the sky, Dragged to the portals of the sky. 2 There His triumphal chariot waits, And angels chant the solemn lay: Lift up your heads, ye heavenly gates; Ye everlasting doors, give way! Ye everlasting doors, give way! 3 Loose all your bars of massy light, And wide unfold the radiant scene; He claims these mansions as His right; Receive the King of glory in! Receive the King of glory in! 4 Who is the King of Glory, who? The Lord who all our foes o'ercame; The world, sin, death, and hell o'erthrew; And Jesus is the Conqueror's name, And Jesus is the Conqueror's name. Amen. Topics: Christ Ascension of; Christ Conqueror; Christ King Used With Tune: ROTHWELL

Author of "Our Lord is risen from the dead" in A Collection of Psalms and Hymns for the Use of Universalist Societies and Families 16ed. In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.
