A precious friend in Jesus

Representative Text

1 A precious Friend in Jesus I have found,
I need Him ev’ry day;
His love reveals the way of life to me,
I need Him ev’ry day.

Refrain:
I need Him ev’ry day,
I need Him ev’ry day,
His love reveals the way of life to me,
I need Him ev’ry day.

2 He fills my soul with sunshine clear and bright,
On Him my cares I lay;
And tell Him all my troubles, great and small,
I need Him ev’ry day. [Refrain]

3 To hide me when the cheerless shadows fall,
So full of dark dismay;
To guide and comfort me with His sweet peace,
I need Him ev’ry day. [Refrain]

4 His everlasting mercy, full and free,
I never can repay;
But willingly surrender all to Him,
I need Him ev’ry day. [Refrain]

Author: Lizzie DeArmond

Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns.
