All the sky is bright (Tout le ciel s'emplit)

Author: Claude Rozier; Fred Pratt Green Appears in 1 hymnal First Line: All the sky is bright Lyrics: 1 All the sky is bright, filled with joy, a new joy. Waiting for the night, we will talk to wonders. Never was a feast like this: Born is Jesus Christ, born the Child-God given to us! 2 Now our Lord appears, he whose word enlightens, all creation hears of the Maker's goodness. God is God of this poor earth and has come to show where our wand'ring steps should go. 3 Not alone they come, simple shepherd, wise men: all the human race wants to make him welcome, wants to look upon the face of the Lord of bliss, who becomes a child for us. 4 Glory be to Christ, glory to the Maker's son, and the Holy Ghost, he whose love enlightens! Dazzling is the mystery filling all the sky: to the Child-God, "Glory," cry. Topics: Advent and Christmas Used With Tune: [All the sky is bright]

Fred Pratt Green

1903 - 2000 Translator (English) of "All the sky is bright (Tout le ciel s'emplit)" in Global Praise 3 The name of the Rev. F. Pratt Green is one of the best-known of the contemporary school of hymnwriters in the British Isles. His name and writings appear in practically every new hymnal and "hymn supplement" wherever English is spoken and sung. And now they are appearing in American hymnals, poetry magazines, and anthologies. Mr. Green was born in Liverpool, England, in 1903. Ordained in the British Methodist ministry, he has been pastor and district superintendent in Brighton and York, and now served in Norwich. There he continued to write new hymns "that fill the gap between the hymns of the first part of this century and the 'far-out' compositions that have crowded into some churches in the last decade or more." --Seven New Hymns of Hope , 1971. Used by permission.
