1 அனாதி தேவா உம் வாக்கு
கிறிஸ்தேசுவுக்கே மகிமை,
தம் இரத்தம் சிந்தி மீட்டாரே,
இன்றென்றும் ஆள்வார் இராஜனாய்.

2 உம் செங்கோல் ஆள வேண்டியே
காத்து நின்றோம் யாம் மீட்பரே,
எங்கும் வெற்றியின் காட்சியே,
காலம் கடந்து சென்றதே.

3 எதிராய் சாத்தான் கூட்டமே
சிலுவை பார் ஆம் போர் ஓசை,
இருளின் தூண்கள் நெருங்க,
கால் தவறியே மாள்வாரே.

4 மலைகள் மீதே ஒளிர்ந்து
நல் பாதை காட்டி நடத்தும்,
எதிரொலிக்கும் குரல்கள்,
ஆனந்த சப்தம் கேட்குதே.

5 விஸ்வாசம் சபை நிறப்பும்
வல்மையால் கண்ணீர் ஓய்ந்திட,
தேசங்கள் யாவும் விறைந்தே,
அமைதி விடுதலைக்காய்.

6 தூயாவி வந்தே காண்பியும்
தந்தையின் சித்தம் வல்லமை,
நரகை வையம் வென்றிட,
இறுதியாய் கொண்டாடிட.

Ray Palmer (b. Little Compton, RI, 1808; d. Newark, NJ, 1887) is often considered to be one of America's best nineteenth-century hymn writers. After completing grammar school he worked in a Boston dry goods store, but a religious awakening prodded him to study for the ministry. He attended Yale College (supporting himself by teaching) and was ordained in 1835. A pastor in Congregational churches in Bath, Maine (1835-1850), and Albany, New York (1850-1865), he also served as secretary of the American Congregational Union (1865-1878). Palmer was a popular preacher and author, writing original poetry as well as translating hymns.
