Representative Text

1 Today for the wand’rer the Father waits,
With blessings and joy in store;
And open are standing the golden gates,
But what if He waits no more?

Refrain:
O still for thee doth mercy wait,
Receive it, ere it be too late,
And closed be heaven’s pearly gate,
To thee forever more.

2 Today on the threshold the Saviour stands,
And knocks at the heart’s closed door,
In heavenly love, with His nail-scarred hands,
But what if He waits no more? [Refrain]

3 Today with a warning the Spirit pleads,
As oft He hath done before;
He shows thee thy guilt and thy soul’s great needs,
But what if He waits no more? [Refrain]

4 For death with its shadows draws on apace,
Life’s daylight will soon be o’er;
And heavenly pardon by saving grace,
Be offered to thee no more? [Refrain]
