Calvin E. McCord was born November 26, 1885 in Palatka, Arkansas. Though he was also a preacher, Calvin and his brother Earl E. McCord were best known as song leaders among the Churches of Christ in Arkansas. Calvin studied in a Eureka Normal School of Music under Will Slater and S. J. Oslin, and led singing for more than a hundred gospel meetings. Though later in life he sold insurance for a living, he was devoted to his work for the church.
