Author of "God Saved His People from Distress" in The Cyber Hymnal In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.

David Duffle Wood

1838 - 1910 Person Name: David D. Wood Composer of "JUNIATA" in The Psalter David Duffield Wood was born near Pittsburgh, PA in 1838. He became totally blind in childhood, and was sent to the School for the Blind in Philadelphia. Wood was an organist, teacher, and composer. He was the organist at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Philadelphia and co-founder of the Philadelphia Orchestra. He died in Philadelphia in 1910. Dianne Shapiro
