Johann Georg Ebeling

1637 - 1676 Composer of "EBELING" in The Cyber Hymnal Johann George Ebeling Germany 1637-1676. Born at Luneburg, Germany, he studied theology at the University of Helmstedt. He was a composer, author, editor, and collector of music. In 1660 he became head of the Hamburg Collegium, and in 1662 cantor of St. Nicholas Church in Berlin. In 1667 he begam teaching music and Greek in Stettin. He wrote choruses, chorales, cantatas, instrumentals oratorios, requiems and music for over 100 lyrics of Paul Gerhardt. He also wrote about music history. 278 works. He died in Stettin. John Perry

1870 - 1952 Author of "All The Skies Tonight Sing O'er Us" in The Cyber Hymnal O'Connor, John, was b. Dec. 5, 1870, at Clonmel, Ireland. After completing his theological studies in the English College at Rome, he was ordained priest 1895, in St. John Lateran, Rome; and is now (1906) priest in charge at Heckmondwike, Yorks. He contributed to the Arundel Hymns, 1902, a number of translations (see Index of Authors, &c), and the following original hymns:— 1. Ah, Lady of high heaven! B. V. M. 2. All the skies to-night sing o'er us. Christmas. 3. Father of all those far-scattered sheep of Christ. St. Patrick. 4. Hail! O new Jerusalem. Heaven. 5. Jesu! none is like to Thee.
