God of my righteousness to me

Appears in 2 hymnals Lyrics: 1 God of my righteousness to me, while calling, bend thine ear: Thou hast enlarged me when distressed; me pity; hear my prayer. 2 Ye sons of men, how long will ye my glory villify? How long love vanity will ye? and how long seek a lie. (Selah) 3 But know, the LORD hath set apart the pious for his own: The LORD will hear me when to him I make my humble moan. 4 Stand ye in awe, and sin no more; consider seriously, Within your hearts with silence deep, as on your beds ye lie. 5 The sacrifice of righteousness let freely offered be And therewith place your confidence upon the LORD do ye. 6 While multitudes inquiring are, who'll cause us good to see? The light, LORD, of thy countenance let on us lifted be. 7 Thou givest more gladness in my heart than theirs in times wherein Their harvest-corn and their new wine, have much increased been. 8 In peace with Him I will lie down, and I my sleep will take; For me in confidence to dwell, Thou, LORD, alone dost make. The Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs of the Old and New Testament, 1758
