Merge text authorities for "Thy Will Be Done" (Elliot)?

You are here

Should https://hymnary.org/text/my_god_and_father_day_by_day be merged with https://hymnary.org/text/my_god_my_father_while_i_stray? The only significant difference is an alternate wording of the first line.

Yes, thanks for pointing this out. I have merged them.

The instance of this hymn in the 1874 hymnal has a full text that desperately needs help. I don't have time this morning.

Also I noted that this hymn (at least in my feed) gives as the text authority's full text the only version whose meter is actually 8.8.6 rather than 8.8.4 (or in one case 8.8.4.4). Wish that didn't happen.

I'm looking for a tune for it, as this hymn will be in my collection of Clarence Bicknell's hymns due out in July.

That text is fixed, but there a bunch of others in that hymnal that are crying out for like attention.

it is a mess.  I was working on it lunchtimes for a few months, but have dropped it for now.
