Jesus Lifted Me

Author: Geo. O. Webster Hymnal: Christian Hymns #304 (1935) First Line: When I was sinking in despair Refrain First Line: From sin's dark night He lifted me Lyrics: 1 When I was sinking in despair, O'erburdened by my sin and care, I raised to heav'n an earnest pray'r And Jesus came and lifted me. Chorus: From sin's dark night He lifted me, When I was in despair; To plains of light He lifted me, And walks beside me there. 2 No other helper could I find, No other friend my wounds to bind, But one I found, so tender, kind, When Jesus came and lifted me. [Chorus] 3 He walks beside me day by day To cheer me on my earthly way, In Him I find my strength and stay, Who heard my pray'r and lifted me.
