1931 - 2020 Author of "Jesus, Wonderful Thou Art" in Great Songs of the Church (Revised) Forrest Mason McCann (b. Lometa, Texas, October 12, 1931; d. November 23, 2020) was a historian of church hymnology and a professor of English at Abilene Christian University (Abilene, Texas) from 1968 to 1996. McCann served as an editor of two editions of E. L. Jorgenson's *Great Songs of the Church* and was editor-in-chief of *Great Songs of the Church, Revised*, published by ACU Press. He was educated at Florida Christian College (Temple Terrace, Florida; A.A., 1950), the University of Florida (B.A., 1952; M.A., 1966), and Texas Tech University (Ph.D., 1980). McCann also authored *Hymns and History* which provides background on each hymn, author, and composer in the hymnal he edited. Monty Lynn
