Our Savior Is Coming

Author: James D. Vaughan; Flavil J. Hall Hymnal: The Cyber Hymnal #14749 First Line: Our Savior is coming, the saints to reward Refrain First Line: In that great day, O sinner, can you stand? Lyrics: 1 Our Savior is coming, the saints to reward, To give them sweet rest from all suffering and care; And all who obey Him and honor His word, He will take to that home He’s now gone to prepare. Refrain: In that great day, O sinner, can you stand? Be saved; why longer yet delay? And when Jesus shall come with the bright angel band, He’ll receive you in that day. 2 All the saints shall be changed, and the martyrs shall rise, They shall meet their Redeemer high up in the air; O how they will shout as they mount up the skies; In the first resurrection I’m longing to share. [Refrain] 3 But the wicked shall mourn and lament in that day, And call for the rocks and the mountains to fall, To hide them away from His presence for aye; O sinner, great terror thy heart shall appall. [Refrain] 4 Yes, the Savior is coming, and it won’t be long; O how can you meet Him in that dreadful day? The righteous shall join in a glad, happy song, The wicked be filled in that hour with dismay. [Refrain] Languages: English Tune Title: [Our Savior is coming, the saints to reward]

1864 - 1941 Author of "Our Savior is Coming" in Perfect Praise Vaughan, James D(avid); b. Dec. 14, 1864, between Lawrence Co. and Giles Co., TN; d. Feb. 9, 1941, Lawrenceburg, TN; music publisher, composer and compiler of gospel songs in shape notation

Flavil Hall

1876 - 1952 Author of "Our Savior is Coming" in Perfect Praise Flavil Hall was born June 22, 1876 near Trion, Georgia. He began preaching for the Church of Christ there in 1896, and later attended the Nashville Bible School. His gospel meeting work was extensive, and led him to extended stays in Michigan and Ohio as well as in the Southeast. Though primarily a pulpit minister, Hall's firm opposition to instrumental music in worship caused him to devote considerable time to teaching singing schools, sometimes in conjunction with his gospel meetings, in order to build up congregational singing and train song leaders. Hall died August 16, 1952 in Greenville, Alabama. He authored two collections of devotional poetry, Pearls of Truth (Cincinnati: F. L. Rowe, 1913), and Pearls of Grace and Glory (Pine Apple, AL, 1950), and Hall's Rudiments of Music (Cincinnati: F. L. Rowe, 1925).
