Lizzie De Armond

1847 - 1936 Person Name: Lizzie DeArmond Author of "The End of the Road" in Golden Bells Lizzie De Armond was a prolific writer of children's hymns, recitations and exercises. When she was twelve years old her first poem was published in the Germantown, Pa. Telegraph, however, it was not until she was a widow with eight children to support that she started writing in earnest. She wrote articles, librettos, nature stories and other works, as well as hymns. Dianne Shapiro, from "The Singers and Their Songs: sketches of living gospel hymn writers" by Charles Hutchinson Gabriel (Chicago: The Rodeheaver Company, 1916)

Elton Menno Roth

1891 - 1951 Person Name: Elton M. Roth Composer of "[When I come to the end of the long, long road] (Roth)" in Golden Bells Roth attended the Fort Wayne (Indiana) Bible School and the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois. He worked with traveling evangelist tours, and was a music teacher at the Alliance Bible schools in St. Paul, Minnesota, and New York City; the Bible Institute, Los Angeles, California; Baptist Theological College; and City College of Los Angeles.
